OBELIC Tablet is combination medicine of Obeticholic Acid used in alone or in combination therapy to treat primary biliary cirrhosis. It helps improve the liver function by inhibiting the production of bile acid and increasing the removal of bile acid from the liver. This reduces the bile acid in the liver and hence prevents its toxic effects.

OBELIC Tablet may be taken with or without food. You should take it regularly at evenly spaced intervals as per the schedule prescribed by your doctor. Taking it at the same time every day will help you to remember to take it. You should always complete the full course of the medicine as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking it until you have finished.

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with this medicine due to the increased risk of side effects such as dizziness, lightheadedness, and fainting. It is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you consume alcohol during treatment with this medicine.

When Not To Use

Allergy

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to Levocetirizine, montelukast, or any other inactive ingredients present in the formulation.

Kidney Disease

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with end-stage kidney disease and creatinine clearance less than 10 ml/min due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects.

Dosage

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Seek the emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.

General warnings

Acute asthma

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients having an acute and severe attack of asthma.

Behaviour and mood changes

This medicine may cause changes in behavior and mood. Symptoms such as agitation, irritability, anxiety, unusual dreams, suicidal thoughts, etc. should be reported to the doctor immediately. Caution is advised while giving this medicine to people with pre-existing psychiatric disorders. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Use in Elderly

This medicine should be used with caution in the elderly population due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects. Appropriate dose adjustments may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

Phenylketonuria

This medicine should be used with caution in patients having Phenylketonuria as some components of this medicine may cause severe adverse effects in such patients. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor immediately. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Other medicines

Use of this medicine may increase the risk of sleepiness and impaired thinking when taken with medicines that are sedatives or tranquilizers. It is advised that you inform the doctor about all your current medicines including any herbs or supplements before beginning treatment with this medicine.

CNS Depression

Use of this medicine may cause mild to moderate CNS depression resulting in sleepiness, difficulty in concentrating, etc. It is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these side effects during treatment with this medicine.

General Instructions

Use this medicine exactly as advised by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts than advised/prescribed. Consult the doctor if you experience any undesirable side effects. Ensure that the treatment course is completed. Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor.
