LANZOX KID TABLET is a proton pump inhibitor used in the treatment of stomach ulcers, gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other acidity related disorders. It decreases the acid produced in the stomach and also helps in the healing of ulcers.

What is it prescribed for?

Peptic UlcerThis medicine is used for the treatment of ulcer of the food pipe, stomach, and small intestine.
Zollinger-Ellison SyndromeThis medicine is used to treat a condition where an excessive amount of acid is produced in the stomach due to tumors in the small intestine.
Acid related dyspepsiaThis medicine is used for the treatment of acid indigestion marked by severe heartburn in the stomach and chest.
Gastroesophagal Reflux DiseaseThis medicine is used in the treatment of reflux disease, where acid from the stomach enters and irritates the food pipe (esophagus).
Helicobacter pylori InfectionThis medicine is used to treat Helicobacter Pylori infection in combination with other medicines.

Erosive EsophagitisThis medicine is used for the treatment in the healing of Erosive Esophagitis (inflammation and swelling of the lining of the esophagus) caused due to an excess amount of acid secretion
NSAID-Induced Gastric UlcerThis medicine is used to treat and prevent stomach ulcers associated with the use of Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
Duodenal UlcerThis medicine is used for short-term treatment and maintenance of healed ulcers of the small intestine (Duodenal).
Active benign gastric ulcerThis medicine is used for the short-term treatment for symptom relief and healing of an active benign gastric ulcer

When Not To Use

Allergy

This medicine is not recommended for patients who are allergic to lansoprazole, other benzimidazoles, or any other inactive ingredients present in the formulation.

Dosage

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.

WARNINGS

General warnings

Diarrhea

The use of this medicine has been associated with an increased incidence of Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea in some patients. Report any such incidence to the doctor on priority. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

Liver disease

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease due to the increased risk of adverse effects. Regular monitoring of liver function, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition

Immune system disorder

The use of this medicine for durations longer than medically recommended can cause skin disorders by affecting the immune system. Report any incidence of skin lesion formation to the doctor while using this medicine. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Risk of infection

The use of this medicine increases the susceptibility to infections from bacteria.

Bone fractures

The use of a high dose of this medicine or for a prolonged duration may increase the risk of bone fractures, especially in older patients and women. Supplements like Calcium citrate and Vitamin D should be taken after consulting the doctor.

Vitamin B12 deficiency

Long-term treatment with this medicine may decrease the absorption of Vitamin B-12 in the body. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Driving or operating machinery

The use of this medicine may cause blurred vision, drowsiness, dizziness, etc. in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms.

Lupus

Use of this medicine may be associated with lupus (systemic and cutaneous). Signs and symptoms like extreme tiredness, painful joints, rashes and lesions on the skin after consuming this medicine should be reported immediately to the doctor and usage should be discontinued. An alternative treatment option should be considered in some cases based on the clinical condition.
